The first day of the Central Zone Annual Inter-Schools Sports Festival is expected to set a competitive and energetic tone as schools gather at the Mawuli School campus in Ho. Held under the distinguished patronage of Madam Benedicta A.M. Agbezudor, Chairperson of the Central Zone Sports Association, the event promises disciplined competition and strong institutional pride.
With all heads of participating institutions present for the opening ceremony, the atmosphere is anticipated to be both formal and spirited. Their presence signals the importance attached to sports development within the zone and reinforces the expectation of fair play and healthy rivalry.
Fourteen schools are competing in this year’s festival: AGOSEC, Gbekor SHS, OLA SHS, E.P. Mawuko Girls’, Mawuli School, Taviefe Secondary Technical School, Adaklu SHS, SOSTEC, SHIA, Wallahs SHS, Sonrise School, ZIOSEC, ZISTECH and Tanyigbe SHS. Given the diversity and strength of these institutions, closely contested fixtures are expected across all disciplines.
Spotlight on Tanyigbe SHS
Tanyigbe SHS enters the festival with strong momentum and is likely to be one of the schools to watch on Day 1. Their previous performances suggest a team well prepared both tactically and physically.
In Boys’ Soccer, Tanyigbe SHS faces SHIA in what is expected to be a tightly fought encounter. Both teams are known for their resilience, so the match could extend beyond regular time. If it does, composure during penalties may determine the outcome.
The Girls’ Volleyball fixture between Tanyigbe SHS and SHIA is predicted to highlight coordination and disciplined teamwork. Tanyigbe’s organised defensive structure and sharp attacking play may give them the edge.
In Boys’ Volleyball, Tanyigbe SHS takes on AGOSEC. With both schools traditionally strong in court games, spectators can expect a fast-paced match featuring tactical serving and effective blocking.
The Boys’ Handball clash between Tanyigbe SHS and TASEC is also expected to draw attention. Physical endurance, quick transitions and defensive organisation will likely decide the outcome.
Expectations for Day 1
Day 1 is forecast to showcase not only athletic skill but also unity among schools within the Central Zone. The combination of strong institutional representation, experienced leadership under Madam Agbezudor’s patronage, and competitive fixtures suggests an exciting opening to the festival.
If early performances reflect preparation and discipline, the tournament could unfold as one of the most competitive editions in recent years. All eyes will be on the opening matches as schools seek to establish dominance from the very first day.
