
Profile of The Headmaster: Etse Godstime Seake-Kwawu
He hails from Kedzi- Havedzi in Keta municipality and attended Horvi Zion School and later enrolled in Keta Business College where he sat for the G.C.E. Ordinary Level and successfully came out in 1987. He continued to Ghana National College, Cape Coast for the sixth form where he sat for the G.C.E. Advanced Level in 1989. He did his National Service under a special programme called “French Team” where he taught English and French at Twifo Nwamaso District Assembly Junior Secondary School in the then Twifo Hemang Lower Denkyira Mokwa District.
He later enrolled in the University of Cape Coast (UCC) where he pursued a course of study in Economics and Sociology. He eventually got admitted to B.A.(Honours) with Diploma in Education which ran concurrently with the degree programme.
He had his post- university national service at Non-Formal Education Division (NFED) where he helped to collect data to evaluate the Functional Literacy Programme which was introduced by the Provisional National Defence Council (PNDC) government.
At Sandema, he had extramural teaching engagement at Sandema Senior High Technical School where he taught Life Skills.
PROFESSIONAL CAREER PATH
He had his professional appointment to trade his career to students of Jukwa Secondary School in 1997. Over there, he initially taught Financial Accounting and Costing very briefly before being assigned the responsibility to teach English. In course of time, he was given the chance to teach Economics and Life Skills/ Social Studies. Initially, he worked like Moral Education Coordinator in the school. He organised Scripture Union (SU) and Red Cross and served as the patron. The Scripture Union has remained till date and has made a great deal of impacts. He established a library for the SU. He participated in SU study camps and Youth Development camps for years. Along the line, he had a study leave and went to UCC to pursue Mphil in Development Studies with a speciality in Human Resource Development. He did a field study on Utilization Of Occupational Health And Safety Equipment In Some Selected Manufacturing Companies In Ghana. He was eventually admitted to MA Development Studies.He was appointed Assistant Headmaster (Academic) in 2004, a role which he sometimes had to combine with that of Assistant Headmaster (Administration) for a number of years when that position became vacant. From 2008 to 2012 he chaired the Chaplaincy Committee of the school.
In 2012, he took inter-regional transfer and had a very brief working time (5months) in Keta Senior High School. He, thereafter, was placed in Three Town SHS in March 2013 where he worked as Assistant Head (Administration). Over there, he introduced a number of best practices and administrative strategies that had resulted in higher efficiency in the school. The Municipal Directorate identified him competent to serve on an interview panel to conduct interview for senior officers in-charge of Administration and Finance and so on.
He played an instrumental role in the establishment of University of Education, Winneba (UEW) Distance Education Programme in the school and had the opportunity to teach Post- Diploma Students.
APPOINTMENT AS HEADMASTER
Effective November 1, 2017, he was appointed to act as Headmaster of Keta Business College (KETABUSCO) but took the handing over on January 3, 2018. He became Substantive Headmaster in October 2018. He was the first alumnus to manage the affairs of the school as Headmaster. During his four- year tenure in that school, he brought in a lot of innovations which included “Greening the environment which had its translation in cultivation of dwarf coconut plantation, planting of royal palm and exotic oranges.
EXTERNAL PARTNERSHIP
He established partnership with KETABUSCO and Real Schule Patternhof in Eschweiller, Germany for exchange programme. By God’s grace, he had the opportunity to participate in the first programme in November 2022 and had the opportunity to travel to three other countries such as the Netherlands, Belgium, and Portugal. During his tenure, old students’ support through their various year groups had seen an unprecedented upward surge. It was his good neighbourliness and influence that made GlobalVillage Afrika to provide solar energy as an alternative source of power for the school.
He brought one constituency – one-million-dollar toilet facility to the school which was almost completed before his exit.
He served as the Chairman of Southern Zone Sports Association; a role he played to the admiration of all as he adopted measures that had altered the face of sports in the zone.
Again, he served as CHASS representative on Disciplinary Committee of Keta Municipal Directorate of Ghana Education Service.
During his tenure he collaborated with Synergy Consult in drawing a Four-Year Strategic Plan for KETABUSCO which was sponsored by Universal Merchant Bank.
The Basketball court in the school was his brainchild; he constructed it up to a little over 80% before his untimely transfer.
Today KETABUSCO plays a host to as many people who desire to acquire UCC degree without having to travel to Cape Coast; he fought tirelessly against all odds to bring UCC College of Distance Education (CoDE) to the school.
He introduced Fencing Sport which has created avenue for some of the students to become national athletes.
He started the process of building partnership between KETABUSCO and Suno – Asogli Ltd when his transfer came.
He started work in Tanyighe SHS on April 13, 2022. Since his coming, he has been working hand in hand with the Stakeholders especially the Governing Board, PTA, and the Member of Parliament to bring some changes in the school.
Through innovative strategies, he was able to generate resources which were used to obtain three desktop computers for the school; some implements including shovels; pickaxes and others for environmental maintenance.
It was through his encouragement to student leadership that the first ever SRC week was celebrated. Since then, it has become an annual event.
Some of the projects made by the SRC are:
- Construction of presentable urinal facilities for staff and students – 2022
- Installation of electronic signpost – 2023
- Establishment of ultra-modern barbering saloon – 2024
The school has benefitted from the Starlink internet connectivity with one-year unlimited data bundle provided by Our Future Prize (NGO) in collaboration with Friends of Adaklu (FOA) – (NGO) through the influence of one of his teachers, Mr. Narh Agbo who consults him from time to time on pertinent issues.
A good number of GETfund projects have been completed in his tenure.
He, together with the staff, have embarked upon construction of a playing field.
