Starlink Internet Boosts Learning at Tanyigbe Senior High School

On Tuesday, 2nd September 2025, Friend of Adaklu (FOA) founder, Ms. Helga Haberfellner, together with her husband, Mr. Paul Allan Andrew, a Canadian with French roots, paid a working visit to Tanyigbe Senior High School (TASHS) in the Volta Region. The couple had earlier donated Starlink Internet Devices to selected schools in the region, including TASHS, to enhance digital learning and connectivity.

The delegation was warmly welcomed by Mr. Robert Tornu, a former Tutor at TASHS and currently the Program and Policy Advisor of Friends of Adaklu, who led them to meet the Headmaster, Mr. E.G. Seake-Kwawu, and the school community. Their purpose was to interact with the students and teachers, and to assess how the newly introduced Internet system was benefitting the school.

The Starlink system, aside from providing high-speed Internet access across the campus, came with Upgrade Learning, a digital educational resource hub that offers a variety of online programs and self-study materials. Students can now access these platforms during their leisure time to support classroom learning, prepare for examinations, and build digital literacy skills.

During the visit, the students expressed heartfelt gratitude to Ms. Haberfellner and Mr. Andrew for their generosity and commitment to education in the Volta Region. Several students noted how the reliable Internet connection has already started making a difference by giving them access to research materials and online courses that were previously out of reach.

The Headmaster, Mr. E.G. Seake-Kwawu, also extended his appreciation to the donors, describing the gesture as “a transformational gift that will bridge the digital divide and open doors of opportunity for both students and teachers.” He emphasized that the Internet service is not only a resource for academic research but also a tool for teachers to prepare lessons more effectively and introduce modern teaching strategies.

With the entire TASHS campus now connected, the school community believes that this intervention will go a long way to improve learning outcomes, boost research capacity, and place the students on par with their peers globally.

The visit by Ms. Helga Haberfellner and Mr. Paul Allan Andrew reflects FOA’s continued commitment to empowering education in the Volta Region through technology and community partnership.
